  NATURAL STARTING & SCHOOLING

Since 1989 Miles Pearson has been starting young horses using a round pen and 'join up' techniques.

Starting to saddle begins in the round pen, graduating to part of the outdoor school followed by use of the entire school. Most horses would then start to be hacked out in company then possibly alone.

Round Pen

This process takes several weeks to carry out properly and safely but no two horses behave the same or reach the same level in a fixed period of time.

If you wish to have a horse started or your horse requires some schooling in order to improve it, contact Miles to discuss it.

Proof of inoculations and Insurance will be required.

Your horse should be physically fit, having been checked by a vet/equine dentist/chiropractor if problems have been experienced in the recent past.

The area has a variety of hacking environments from bridle paths, fields and quiet lanes through to busier main roads. All these help to build the confidence of a young or newly started horse.

Starting/training up to/inc. 16.1 hh£21.50 per day (£150.50 per week)
Starting/training over 16.1hh£25 per day (£175 per week)

(Starting a horse is likely to take 3-4 weeks.)

Client responsibilities – for the benefit of you and your horse.

ALL horses must be wormed and have received flu &tetanus injections that will protect them for the length of their stay.

We recommend that all horses have their feet trimmed and teeth checked prior to arrival to save you time & money.

It is the responsibility of the Client/owner of the horse to arrange adequate equine insurance (Vet’s fees, loss of use etc.) including cover for hacking out (where appropriate). Proof of insurance may be requested.
